  • Ranked 2nd on the club with 28 home runs and 3rd with a .290 batting average and 90 RBI.
  • Won his 3rd consecutive Rawlings Gold Glove Award at third base.
  • Made his first career All-Star Game start at third base, his 3rd trip to the All-Star Game overall.
  • Finished strong, batting .374 with 9 doubles, 12 homers and 33 RBI in his last 41 games and .350 with 12 doubles, 15 homers and 37 RBI in his last 53.
  • Ranked 3rd on the club with 23 multiple-RBI games, including 5 three-RBI performances and a team season-best 6-RBI game against Colorado.
  • His .508 slugging percentage was second on the club to Tony Gwynn.
  • Homered in back-to-back games, August 15-16 vs.  Chicago and September 17-18 vs. Colorado.

 

  • Ken became the 12th player to homer into the upper deck in right field at Veterans Stadium when he went deep off Curt Schilling   to lead off the 6th, August 27 in Philadelphia
  • Went 2-for-5 with a pair of 3-run homers and a club season-high 6 RBI
  • His first-inning blow off John Burke, estimated at 465 feet, was the 4th ball to reach the 3rd deck in right at Coors Field
  • Ken also hit the previous upper-deck shot, July 11, 1996 off Steve Reed
  • Batted .376 in with 9 homers and 20 RBI
  • Had 3 consecutive 3-hit games, and 2 or more hits in 5 of 6 games!
  • Drove in at least one run in 7 consecutive games (11 RBI total)
  • Ignited two of the club’s three back-to-back home run binges in 1997.
